info needed on VH interconnects

Hi All:

I am interested after reading various posts on VH products about his interconnects.  I am interested in a DIY project using his silver wire.  Could anyone comment on the differences besides the shielding, of his DIY recipe and his Cryo'd Pulsars.

thanks,

rklein

Chris' silver recipe versus the pulsars are completely different.  The Pulsars are copper, the ground is plated copper but still copper versus pure silver in his DIY silver recipe.

The pulsars uses Chris' own made-to-spec coaxial cable, which you can also buy to DIY interconnects.  I have not compared the two types of cables, but I'm sure you could email Chris to see what his thoughts were on the 2 types.

Hi rklein

Can't comment on comparison with the Pulsars, but I have made a couple of sets of the DIY silver i/c's and they are awesome.  Very detailed, lovely smooth treble, firm bass, neutral balance and really really dynamic.  Best I've heard!

Cheers

Hi Rklein:

I recently completed a pair of the silver interconnects.  I have not done any "serious" listening with them yet.  From what I have heard so far I am favorably impressed.  Clearer and holographic than the cooper wire Stan Warren design DIY interconnects I replaced them with.  Right off they sounded a little bright, but they are settling down.  Have not done any serious A/B comparisons yet as my dac is in for maintenance so my system is not at 100%.

One caution.  The Eichman plugs Chris recommends are very fragile.  Its very easy to overheat and deform the plastic housing while soldering.  Also follow directions and heat the plugs with a hair dryer before plugging them into a female RCA socket if they feel at all tight.  I did not and plugged one in using only moderate pressure.  I ended up bending the postive post of the male plug ruining it.  It could have been much worse.  The positive post shorted out the plug.  I could have done some serious damage to my system if I had not have noticed this before trying.

Thanks for your replies.  I will probably move forward and make these interconnects.  They're not that much when you DIY and if I don't like them in my system, I'm sure someone would be interested in them

If you use the copper bullets it's fairly cheap, but I wonder how much difference it makes vs using silver wire/silver bullets.  I was about to order the parts a couple months ago until I realized it was a $250 project using the silver bullets (for 2 pairs).  That's "relatively" cheap, but still a lot of money for a DIY cable.
