FS: Odyssey Kismet Mono Extremes
« on: 4 Oct 2014, 10:56 am »
*** UPDATE (11/10/2014): SOLD ***

These are Odyssey's best amps they can make (confirmed this with Klaus last October when I purchased). They are the Kismet monos in Stratos case with black board, extreme power supply upgrade with dual transformers and full 180 uF top-of-the-line cap upgrade, WBT line input and speaker terminal connectors. Built in 2010, I am the second owner. They are hands down the best amps I've had in my system, combining the warmth and three-dimensionality of tubes with the speed and control of solid state. They run only slightly warm for a class A/AB amp, and will drive any speaker with ease and finesse. These amps will make your speakers sound better than they are (not joking)! Am downsizing my whole system due to family expenses pinching the budget, and already regretting it a little.

Asking $2600 + shipping.
Condition of the amps is excellent cosmetically and perfect functionally. No noise or hum even with very sensitive speakers. I don't have the original boxes, but they will be professional packaged for safe shipping. Feel free to call (805-259-7262) with any questions.

Please, tell me what these amps are with the extra power supply and extra 2 SL caps per monoblock.
I’m in much need of a pair of monos to handle a 3 Ohm load nominal.
Been through way to many amps to list that could not handle the speakers.
I’m confident these will do the job per Klause’s recommendation, and with the reviews I’ve read, and just the pair of old Stratos I still have' which have an amazing open airy, relaxed sound, I would love to get that back but with, the balls to power my modified cv d-9s’.

I’m confident they will be fine, but after seeing these beasts with extra power supply and two extra caps per amp, I’m intrigued and may be able to scrape up a wee more cash if the outcome is “these amps”

I'm going to try to steer your conversation back to the Odyssey circle and away from a 4 year old expired trading post ad by pointing you to this thread:

https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=151062.0

which describes basically the newest/latest incarnation of what you see here.  A single 850VA transformer instead of the dual 400VA units you see in these, 35K Symphonic Line caps, plus all the latest secret sauce Klaus has put together.  If you spoke with him directly, I'd be confident whatever Klaus quoted you will probably not even break a sweat for what you're asking, but if you want to know what the absolute best Klaus can build right now is, here you go.
