JVC F10 Break-in - Is it supposed to be this bad??

Thank you, Rob.  Thank you, ChairGuy.  :D

It has 7.5 hours on it so far, and there is a slight but noticable difference.  I expect this will continue and can't wait to hear it.

TheChairGuy, I have read all your posts about power conditioning and this unit.  Your BPT-2 seems great, and I and hope to have something on this level at some point.  But a my audio budget for now is small, so so here are my current plans, in order.  I'm hoping to do them within the next 2-3 months:

- DIY speaker cables.  Probably Chris VenHaus's or some other Cat-5 -based cable.  Right now I'm using a long run of old Monster Cables that have turned green in places.  This will turn into a short run of Cat-5.  The major limitation is what I can stick into the back of the F10's spring clips.  I may build the whole cable anyway and just terminate one end for this receiver, then reterminate it when I upgrade amps.

- Upgrade my wall socket to an Eagle or maybe to a cryo.

- DIY power conditioner.  There are reviews on AA of Jon Risch's design that are pretty positive, plus some modification to the design by Lukasz Fikus that seem really good.  This will be new ground for me, but seems simple enough and I will have an engineer friend check my work for safety.

- Wrap the power cord or put in a DIY power cord.

- Isolate and damp the unit via any DIY vibration control method.

- Buy a DAC for my Squeezebox.  The three leading candidates are the Ack! Dack! 2.0, the Bel Canto DAC2, and the Benchmark DAC-1.  This is my next big purchase and I will post separately asking for thoughts.

I think that will be my system for some time, although I might sell the B&Ws and buy new speakers.
