How does the 90 compare to the 160???

I would say both the 90 and the 160 share more similarities than differences.  Both are excellent sounding amps.  Lots of clarity, dynamics, air, and bass extension.  Even though the 90 is the small brother, it does not sound small at all.  I was impressed by its big sound when I first heard it.  This may be attributed to the new SoundEngine2 technology with low distortion and high damping factor.
