I just can't do it!  I'm having to keep them for now.  I guess if I really want to let something go, I shouldn't look back at my own ad!  They just look too good!  Sorry everyone.

Dennis Had Inspire LP-2 Preamp and KT150 Single Ended Pentode Amplifier

Designed and hand wired by the tube amp guru himself, Dennis Had, past principle designer and chief of Cary Audio.  In beautiful, custom ordered, Jaguar Carnival Red powder coat and burled walnut face plates, these pieces are true collector's items, especially as a set.  The KT150 is a single ended pentode design and will output between 5 and 12 watts per channel depending on tube configuration.  Dennis upgraded the KT150 to include the later developed Infinite Impedance Power Supply design and upgraded capacitors: Janzen Silver Z Caps.  I had him upgrade the LP-2 to include a DACT stepped attenuator at $250.

With sufficiently sensitive speakers, ie, ~92db or more, this pair produces delightful coherent and full bodied sound.  The midrange in particular is about as good as it gets.  The directness of the single ended design amplifies with minimal adverse impact on the original signal making for delightful imaging and good transparency.  The KT150 amplifier will accept a wide range of tube types.  Dozens of rectifier and driver tube types as well as power tube types such as 6V6, 6L6, 6F6, 6K6, 6550, KT66, KT77, KT88, KT90, KT120, KT150, EL34, just to name some.

I also have some other pdfs and videos of Dennis, his amps, etc.  Contact me if you would like any of these.

You can customize the sound to match existing components and your own taste by tube rolling.  With this in mind, I've bundled a cornucopia of  tubes to satisfy your tube rolling curiosity (or obsession :icon_twisted:) for some time.  Sold individually, I would expect to get $800-$1000 for them.

Here's the list:

Pair NP Mullard EL34
Pair NP Tung-Sol EL34
Pair NP Gold Lion KT77
Pair Vintage Winged C (=C=) EL34
Pair NP Tung-Sol 6V6GT
Pair Vintage Pope 6V6GT

My favorite combo is (as they say, "Your mileage may vary"):
Preamp: Brimar 5R4GY or RCA 5U4G
Amp: RCA 5U4G, Gold Lion KT77, several of the Russian driver types and the GL 6922

Also included are power cords, Herbie's tube dampers ($100 new) and a set of socket savers.  The socket savers will protect the permanent ceramic sockets when doing more extensive tube rolling (see photo-3rd from the bottom).

Both pieces are in mint condition, both cosmetically and functionally, and have been treated lovingly for the four years I've had them.  The red and walnut combo makes for a very warm and unique look.  Guests have never failed to comment on them.

I spent another ~ $50 to make storage/shipping boxes with double walls and foam inserts (as Dennis liked to wrap them in 20 feet of bubble wrap for shipping instead!).

So we have a complete kit here - soup to nuts.  Original costs were LP-2 - $1150 (with the stepped attenuator), KT150 - $1700, Tubes ~ $1200, Herbie's dampers - $100, socket savers and shipping boxes - $75.  That's $4225.  This doesn't include the upgrade cost to the KT150 I had Dennis perform in 2016.

Selling price is $3000 plus shipping and Paypal fees.  Will also be listing on eBay.  Maybe Audiogon.

There are three boxes:  LP-2 (16" x 13" x 12", 7 lbs), KT150 (16" x 13" x 12", 19 lbs), and Tubes (16" x 13" x 11", 7 lbs).  Example shipping by USPS Priority with insurance to Atlanta, for example, would be $189.  Likely less if you are further west.  If you have a UPS or Fedex account, we could figure on using that with your discount.

I am reluctant to separate the pre and amp, but will only if the first sale is the LP-2 (along with the tubes, dampers, and socket saver that go with it).  $850 plus shipping and paypal in that case.

I have assembled this sale with care and love.  My goal is to offer the new owner a full experience and hope this kit will provide as much joy and fun to you as it has for me.  Thanks for looking.  Glad to answer questions as best I can.

If you are wondering why, we are beginning transition to semi-retirement living and I am reluctantly downsizing and simplifying.

Very nice set. Doesn't ebay take 10% of the sale though? don't forget about Audio Asylum trader.

Thanks.

eBay sometimes runs a 50% off final value fees and that is the case now.  Still a bit of selling expense, but at 5% instead of 10% it is often worth the wide exposure.

I can always list on Audio Asylum and US Audiomart.  I will if they are slow to sell.  These ads can take a bit of time to put up well!
