Eeek!

A gigantic spider just parachuted into my audio gear! :o
I think I got 'em with the fly swatter. The bass must have jolted 'em from the rafters.

The thought of a spider dropping on me in the dark terrifies me.
And if there's one there must be more I don't see.

Absolutely. According to Arachna Weekly, by the time you see one spider there are likely 100's to 1000's already hatched, searching to feed (human blood, mostly). They are attracted to loud music and since they not only see with their eyes but also hear with them they are a known threat to concert goers and audio enthusiasts alike, especially while listening in the dark. Spiders especially prefer to attack the head: eyes for easiest access to blood vessels; ear canals to lay their eggs close to food source. AN recommends while listening to music leave all lights on (100 watt bulbs minimum) and only very softly playing of music to avoid being attacked and bitten.

This crawled out of the KEF 104.2s currently residing on the basement workbench awaiting repairs. I wacked it a good one with some speaker stands, had it bronzed, and then donated it to the local art museum for a considerable tax write-off!
