Hello from Cape Town
« on: 1 Jul 2018, 06:42 pm »
Hi there! I live in beautiful city of Cape Town and have been an audiophile for most of my life. I'm into both DIY and commercial audio. I've built Linkwitz Labs Pluto and Orion speakers in the past. My current interest is in line array speakers. I have a Master's Degree in Electronics Engineering specializing in DSP. I like to apply my knowledge in these areas with DIY audio.

I used to hang out and participate in discussions on occasion a few years ago on AudioCircle, but have not logged in for a few years . For some reason my posts have disappeared and I am now being treated like a new member on AudioCircle despite it allowing me to log in with my existing user name and password.

Regards,
Jaco

Thanks for the warm welcoming back! I honestly don't remember how many posts I had. It's not a big issue though. Just thought that despite appearances I'd mention that I'm not a newbie on AudioCircle  :)

I'd appreciate some pointers to DIY line array build threads. I have read most of Dannie Richies' very informative posts about OB line arrays, but there may be others I am not aware of.

LA is a great opportunity to run FR drivers if you can correct the Comb Filter effect passively with a curved baffle.

Welcome!
I've been a member since 2003, James from Bryston IIRC was here 1 week before me. Yes there was a site update awhile back, I lost a bunch of posts as well.

I use to visit regularly at Audio Review and Audiokarma.

Hey jjnvdm, I remaster recordings, I improved my method around 2012 but knew it worked since around 2005. I have to do it manually, perhaps someone with your expertise can make it work on a practical level, On the Fly. However I want a cut of the Royalties.

It'll improve most recordings but the recording has to be fairly decent to start with in terms of clarity. Compression is still noticeable if its in the recording. I've remastered some 200 gigs in songs. :smoke:
