just saying hello
« on: 11 Apr 2018, 09:04 pm »
Hello. New member here. I'll start with listing my musical tastes and my system. I listen to a broad range of music...
rock, blues, jazz, reggae,Brazilian and other world music,I check out NPR Tiny Desk Studio concerts often to find new music, such as Milk Carton Kids,Monsieur Perine', Angel Olsen and many others. Honestly,I try to keep an open mind .
As a bit of an old timer I've gone through many phases.....first concert was Allman Bros. at Wollman Rink/Central Park
and I was hooked...
My current system has also evolved......but I haven't had a whole lot of components over the years. For now:
Eastern Electric cdp
Modwright 9.0 swl  ss rectified
McCormack DNA 1
B&W dm 303 speakers
Nordost Heimdall ic between cdp and pre.......and between pre and amp
Signal speaker cables

you might think the B&Ws would be a wink link, but they work for me,which doesn't mean I don't look at replacements . I recently auditioned Harbeth P3esr in home for a few days but decided to keep B&Ws.
Vandersteens would be another consideration but my room is my living room, which I share begrudgingly
with my wife,so size matters. As for size, the room is 12x20 with gear and speakers on short wall so I'm listening
from about 10 feet away. Speakers are on stands out a bit into the room. Stands are Walmart specials, folding
bar stools that do the trick for 11 bucks each. After extensive Harbeth reading I decided, after Alan Shaw,to go low
rent. And they fold up if need be,and speakers can go back on wide record cabinet/equipment stand ....if my grandkids visit,or a particular beloved brother in law who likes to play with stuff after a few Dewars. Anyway, that's
a brief history and intro. I am on Audiogon as offnon57 ,and Audio Asylum as truks31. I figured I'd wait to post
anything else but as I find my way around I'm sure I'll jump in when I can. Glad to join up as I've checked in here
often to see what's going on.      KBro ... as my brothers sometimes refer to me.
