New to AudioCircle
« on: 2 Mar 2018, 02:30 pm »
Hello,

this is my first post to Audio Circle.

I am about 20 years into this hobby, starting back when things like eBay and AudioGon were just starting.

I have evolved quickly into DHT SET amplification and vintage alnico/field coil fullrange drivers in open back cabinets.
On the other hand, I run strictly digital, starting with CD playback but now only PC fi (JPLAY, Fideliizer, Regen, TotalDAC).

I hope to learn from other members, especially regarding the latest in PC fi, where things are always moving forward.

Thank you,
David.

My suggestion is run tube amps w/Alnico and SS w/ferrite fullranges, too bad field coils are expensive as Alnico.

2. HP Elitebook --> TotalDAC D1 USB --> Uptone Regen (powered by Uptone JS2) --> Sonicweld HR2 USB to S/PDIF converter --> Concert Fidelity DAC-040BD (digital section battery powered)

*Oberton SV572-3 DHSET (Directly Heated Single Ended Triode) integrated amplifier.
*A low-volume custom build in Russia.  6SL7 Input/5U4G Driver/SV572-3 Output.
*Roughly 100 lbs.
*Completely dual mono, except power cord.
*Bought from Ebay from a Russian Canadian gentleman, who bought it in Russia and few it over personally.
*Very open sound with a huge soundstage and a live tone -- not really euphonic.

*Interconnect: Silver wires directly crimped to component RCA terminals using DIY tubings.  No RCA connectors.
*Power Cords:
Omega Mikro LCX Active 30W Red on DAC
Verastarr Grand Illusion on SET amplifier
Tel Wire Cord on Uptone JS2
Acoustic Zen Tsunami cords on the Gallo subwoofers
Verastarr Grand Illusion on Genesis subwoofer
Mapleshade Double Helix Mk1i PLUS power cords on the Lambda field coil supplies
