FRMan, you mean I should send him music to review?
Urednik I not sure on it, but he has a lot of experience on studio recordings.

I just now stumbled upon this thread by fluke, and then saw my name mentioned.

Welcome to AC, urednik—and good choice of mics! I have eyed the R88 myself, since stereo ribbon mics have been my main pair for the last 30 years—first Speiden SF12s then Royer SF12 and SF24, supplemented for orchestral recordings particulary with minimally-used spot mics, typically of the Oktava 012 variety (modified, of course). On the odd occasion where I am recording vocalists in a near field pop-like situation I will rent a decent vocal mic for the occasion, or if a hand held type will work I will use either a Røde S1 or one of my recently acquired (a generous gift) Beyerdynamic M500 Ns, a fabulous vocal mic of which I was unaware. They were used by Crosby Stills Nash and Young on tour, I am told.

I'm all ears and look forward to hearing your recordings. I am busy for the next three weeks or so with a couple of important recordings (and Christmas!), but will be free to engage more after that.

I don't have a website, but here's a link describing my activities in Armenia on a challenging gig and containing some links (at the bottom of the page) to some of my recordings.

Where are you located?

Merry Christmas

Russel thank you so much. ATM I am so busy, I had in plan to contact you. I am eager to hear those samples from your Armenian gig.
Have no monitors available until tomorrow.

What you describe as setups is exactly what my experiences so far confirmed.
R88 was a recommendation by my online tutor, who had been working barock recordings with a r88 alike AEA prototype (built in pre-amp). He is this years grammy nominee BTW - Jacob Händel.

I like the body of the sound and use it as the main pair usualy. However with pianissimos in classical music no pre-amp is able to lower the hiss produced at those low levels. So I have to do some post production tricks to keep it mainly unnoticed.

I am located in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Central Europe

All the best to you AC Guys as well. You seem like a very educated and reasonable team here.

Folks, here is a sneak peek, and have all files now saved as 24/88 flac files, because this is as I understand the standard file you would expect.

BTW Russel,
great, balanced recordings!

I know it is Holiday time,
however it is my last bump - since I am running out of time with our CD release:

Please share any thoughts on what you find problematic, what is ok, what impresses you perhaps etc.

What would the audiophile package include? I understand, you prefer Flac files, 88.200kHz, 24bit seems ok, adding a PDF Broshure like the one with the CD. Anything else?

CD is full time? If not would add some bonus tracks or alternate tracks from the sessions, just a idea;

Good idea! I will do so, but not for the cd. We can not change there, because the works had to be announced before.
Will do so for the audiophille package!
