Model T Passive

I'm considering a pair of Model Ts (Passive)... My room is smallish, 12x19...Do I have the space? What kind room size do these speakers need to be their best?

Hi, my room is 25'x11'x8' and it works well in my room speakers placed on long wall 12' apart. I have the speakers toed in slightly with the drivers firing towards the backwall 3' left and right of my listening chair. I get a very convincing phantom stereo image coming off the front wall from reflections off the backwall.

My concern when I purchased the speakers was that I wasn't sure these speakers would work in my room and that their big size was going to be overkill. Based on the dealer demo and James Tanner was doing the demo, I figured that the way the speakers threw a stereo image of Taiko drums and the sound seemed to project off the front wall between the speakers. Also based on a personal observation how sound from an incoming airplane reflected off a concrete building behind were I was standing, I figured that these speakers just might work in my room, and they did.

Having said that, I'm thinking your room may be a tad short, but you can still get good speaker separation for the backwall reflection idea to work. If would be great if you could demo the speaker in your room to be sure it is not overkill.

Now as for reflections coming off the backwall to the front wall. Just by changing the toe in left or right speaker an inch or so, you can move the stereo phantom image left or right to get it centered to where you want it.

Hi

One of the design parameters with all the Bryston speakers was to provide equal Sound Power in all directions.  What that means is the energy radiating from the speaker is as even in amplitude as possible for every frequency.

So this design really helps when you place large speakers in small rooms.

So I might be able to make this work... Does the Bryston sound/speaker Model T lend itself towards any particular musical genres? I lean to acoustical, sparse recordings.

Hi Andy

I would say no to a specific voicing on our speakers. The goal is to keep them as transparent as possible to the incoming signal.

hi Andy

I have a pair of Bryston Mini T speakers and I'm a big bluegrass / acoustic music fan. My experience over the last 3 years or so with these speakers has been absolute sonic bliss. The music sounds pure to the recording and, if you like listening at high levels, the bonus is these speakers can handle tons of power (and SPL) without any noticeable distortion. It's amazing really.  Lately, i've been on a Gillian Welch kick. The recordings are simplistic and I'm able to hear even the most subtle finger changes on the acoustic guitar and each breath as Gillian begins to sing. Astonishing, really.

Anyway, good luck with your decision. Can't go wrong with bryston speakers!  :thumb:
