My BCD-3 seems to be somewhat finicky about playing certain discs.  I have two other players that can play these discs with no problem.  In most cases I have found it to be a fingerprint or other such smuge on the disc.  Once cleaned it will play.  However I have a couple of discs that show no visible indication of of anything on the disc.  I've cleaned the disc...but still the the last two tracks will not play without pausing and skipping.  Is this intolerance of less than perfect CDs an issue others have run into or is this something that probably will require servicing?

Are the audio discs cd-r? If so what software do you use to rip? And the cd's that skip play on another plateform?

After the advent of cheap CDR discs some official music labels use generic data CDRs, low quality media to press music CDs to profit more and not the music blank CDs, these discs can miscalibrating the focus reading and even the tracking of transport.

These are commercially released discs....and they play fine on my other two players.

I have not had any issues with my 2 players but if you can make a CDR of the disc and see if it plays.

I made a CDR copy of the album and it plays fine.  I was also able to rip the CD to flac files for my NAS/Streamer and that process went without a problem.  I'm just unable to play the entire original CD on the BCD.  Curious....

Thanks for the offer but so far this is such an occasional issue (and one usually resolved by just cleaning the disc) that I am not going to worry with it.  If it becomes a more pervasive and frequent problem perhaps we can have another conversation.  BTW, the BDC-3 is a great sounding player.  Even as I transition more of my listening to streaming it is still such a pleasure listening to quality sound from my CDs.

 On a somewhat related question, does the BCD-3 play the CD layer of hybrid sacd's without issue?
