Speaker advice needed for a Bryston B60...
« on: 17 Dec 2004, 02:50 pm »
I have a Bryston B60, and am looking to match up a set of speakers. I will be listening from about 8-9 feet, the speakers will have to be close to the wall. The room has high ceilings, and a hardwood floor (with a rug covering just part). I would definitely prefer a small footprint, if not small period.

Some earty thoughts, though I haven't auditioned any yet, are the ProAc Tablette 50 (would the B60 be too bright?) and Audio Physic Spark.

Thanks very much for all input!

I'd prefer to stay below (if not well below) 2,000 for the pair, but am always happy to go for used equipment.

I would recommend ACI Sapphires. Mike offers a money back guarantee. There is a circle for ACI here on the forums. Many people mate Bryston gear with ACI speakers with great results. I am using the ACI Jaguars with my Bryston amp (4BSST) and preamp (BP-20).

Tony C,

You will receive lots of suggestions- and you can probably ignore most of them! (including this post if you wish!)

I have auditioned the B60 with B&W 805's and 705's. Good match. And while I have never heard them, the PMC TB2 is said to be a good match.

The speakers that intrigue me are the speakers from NSM. If you go to the website (nsmaudio.com)- have a look at the Model 10s and the Model 15. If you search the site you will find links to reviews that may be interesting to read.

The NSM speakers are acoustic suspension, therefore rather low in efficiency, but are an easy 8 ohm load which the B60 likes.

Happy hunting (er, listening)
