Hi guys.
thanks for the warm welcome!
My favorite Quartet's are Shostakovich's !!!!!!! the Taneyev quartet is the performance i prefer. both on Vinyl and CD.
2nd is Beethoven quartets. The Vegh Quartet.
My listening preferences are a lot conditioned by the recording quality......
I see we share the same opinions!!!! for Organ music i have 2 subs REL 328....more than enough.....
I completely bypass the pre and goes to the amps via XLR
I have used a pair of Reference 18 for 2 years.
Now i bought the ST-10, and even if the burning period is (i guess) at 30% (40 hours running, 1 week) and the sound is still dry (even for my taste) and "tight", the timbre, the articulation and the textures are clearly superior to the Ref 18. I really like it.
Thanks for inform, I prefer modern quartets as Villa-Lobos and John Adams:
Chamber music
(1970) Piano Quintet
(1978) Shaker Loops (for string septet)
(1992) Chamber Symphony
(1994) John's Book of Alleged Dances (for string quartet)
(1995) Road Movies (for violin and piano)
(1996) Gnarly Buttons (for clarinet and chamber ensemble)
(2007) Son of Chamber Symphony
(2007) Fellow Traveler (for string quartet)
(2008) First Quartet
(2014) Second Quartet
