Hello!

Hi all

I am an infrequent poster to community sites (occasional computer science and martial arts questions) - so forgive me if I transgress any local conventions.

After about 30 years, I am retiring my musical fidelity A1.  It's noisy, and getting annoyingly fallible.

I've been looking for a replacement and have bought an Abrahamsen v2.0 UP.  It's really nice.  Too 'nice'.  It's got no guts, no verve.  Some of my music it does well - Scandinavian EST jazz, classical, electronica.  Some of it sounds AWFUL - anything with balls.  Latin percussion, punk, etc

I think I am realising that my old amp adds a whole deal of colour to the signal, it's very imperfect, but it makes music exciting.

Can anyone recommend a modern equivalent of the MF A1?  Budget would be about 1k tops.

Welcome Matt. No recommendations for a new amp from me since I'm in the flea watt camp. Glad you found us.

Welcome.

So what's the rest of your system like (speakers, room size, and layout in particular)?

And could you remind us of what the power output of the MF A1 and Abrahamsen are so we know what ballpark you're playing in?
