New to OTL amps, did I make a mistake?
« on: 7 Apr 2017, 03:30 pm »
I just bought a pair of Counterpoint SA 4 amps for stereo use. I didn't do too much deep research until after I bought them and now I am nervous that these are not as simple in terms of just turning them on due to heat generation, etc. I did see someone was improving upon the design, though I am not sure he is still around.

Counterpoint is long out of business.  Their chief designer Michael Elliot later had an upgrade service business but I don't know if that is current.

I believe the SA 4 was designed by Roger Modjeski of Music Reference so you could contact him with your questions.

Definitely contact Roger.  I still think as long as you get them serviced, they should be OK for use.
