Brooks Audio 2a3 SET Modified by Jackson and Slagle

I am selling this amp to fund the purchase of custom Type 50 monoblocks designed and built by Jeffrey Jackson. The Brooks has served me well for over 2 years driving my 110db horns, also designed and built by Jeffrey. The Brooks is currently at Jeffrey's shop where it was given a tuneup.

Extremely high parts quality single ended 2A3 directly heated triode amplifier. This amplifier is hand wired, point to point, on a solid copper top plate. It uses Hirata Tango output transformers, the XE-20S. Dave Slagle and Jeffrey modified the circuit to transformer coupling and LED bias. The input/driver circuit is the Amperex 7788 transformer coupled to the 2A3. The interstage transformer is Dave's (Intact Audio) nickel (permalloy) bifilar 1:1. The power supply capacitors are the now unobtanium (like the output transformers) Elna Cerafine. Power supply rectification is the tried and true 5AR4, which guarantees a nice, slow rise of the high voltage. The amplifier also uses massive vintage potted power supply iron.

Jeffrey ran sweeps of the amplifier and it has -3dB points of 17Hz and 110kHz... yes, you read that correctly... a transformer coupled amplifier that measures that well... and NO peaks before either of those roll offs..

Jeffrey also replaced the sockets as one had become noisy. This baby is very quiet on 105dB+ horns.

asking US$3000 and worth nearly that in parts!

The amp is also posted on Audio Asylum and DIY Audio.
