New VTL ST-150 Owner
« on: 31 Dec 2016, 01:22 am »
Hi -

I just upgraded my Primaluna Prologue 7's to a VTL ST-150. I was reading an article here about changing out the trimpots and had a few questions, so I joined.

Thanks!
MIke

Welcome to AC, Mike.

That's is quite a nice jump in quality IMO. May I ask what you use or a preamplifier? (always curious)

Regards,

Michael

I have a VTL 5.5 for a preamp. It's an older model, but it rocks. I originally had a 2.5 and sold it when I found the deal on this 5.5.

A couple of them feel like the are getting worn out. When you adjust them, it's almost impossible to get the voltage correct because they turn so easily. It looks like the 3339 is the way to go - it will give 4 turns of adjustment, but I'm not sure if the 3339P or 3339H is the correct part. Nothing urgent since I got everything dialed in now, but I wanted to order them for a rainy day.

Do you already try contact defuct VTL?
Any custumer support?
Do you try reach David Manley?

VTL is still in business but the stock parts are pretty crappy.
Their customer service consists of "send the unit in for upgrades" and I'm afraid David Manley died a few years back.
There's a thread here about aftermarket bias pots for the 150:

Looks like Steve has given you the link to my overhaul thread. On the second page, I indicate that I use the P series mount. Good luck!
