MARS - National Geographic Channel
« on: 15 Nov 2016, 08:46 pm »

MARS, a new science based action/drama mini-series premiered Monday, 11/14/16 on the National Geographic Channel and it is pretty good. The series takes place in 2033 with the first maned space flight to mars with flashbacks to 2016. The series is totally fact checked for accuracy and should be an inspiring ride.

Plenty of videos to watch on the National Geographic site:

Now streaming on the National Geographic Channel and on the web.

Watched the premier last night. Not bad, but I find the over dramatization in the 2033 segments a bit annoying. Yes - going to Mars is amazing and dangerous - you don't have to shout it out in capital letters via the actors dialogue  - it already apparent from the course of the mission story. It doesn't need to be oversold.

Ps can't believe how young the people are in Space X's mission control. Makes me feel like a dinosaur.

It's pretty good for a Nat Geo show.  The 2033 sections are a bit over the top, I agree.  But I come in with lower expectations for Nat Geo's dramatic capabilities versus HBO or AMC so I cut them a little slack.  Entertaining to watch.
