Audio Refinement was the Toyota to YBA’s Lexus. Built from 2002 to 2006, French (YBA) designed and built in Taiwan during the expansion of YBA into the “lower end” of the audiophile market before Shanling bought YBA.
Class AB power amp - 125wpc x 2 into 8 ohms, 200wpc into 4 ohms. 25 lbs. Non resonant steel base, full length aluminum heat sinks, and nice aluminum faceplate. Has 12v trigger. Adjustable gain pots per channel. Decent RCA and speaker level connectors. HUGE power transformer, evidence of YBA parts throughout - The output terminals, AC socket, internal wires, fuses are all original YBA parts.
A great way to get into a power amp affordably. A great option to add to your AVR for the front channels if your AVR has pre outs. A great way to add rear channels if you are going from 5.1 to 7.1 or Atmos etc. Nothing else for sale at this price likely touches this sound.
100% functional. Drives my Focals very nicely with a slightly laid back top end and excellent bass control with smooth mids. I find the combo excellent for detail without sharpness or brightness at all.
6/10 condition (likely 7/10 but I am conservative about this stuff) 2 mildly bent rear footers – 1/8 to 1/4 out of true – zero impact on functionality. A few really minor faults on the top line of the front face – need to be within 1 foot to see them. See detailed pics to help you make your decision.
