BDP-2 sound card upgrade or BDA-2 to BDA-3 upgrade?

BDP-2 sound card upgrade or BDA-2 to BDA-3 upgrade?

I currently have a BDA-2 and BDP-2. I was interested in upgrading the sound card in the BDP-2. Then I got to thinking about upgrading the BDA-2 to a BDA-3. I thought I remembered reading that 1) the USB inputs on the BDA-3 were as good as the AES/EBU and coax inputs and 2) the upgraded sound card for the BDP-2 won't impact the USB outputs? If that's the case, there really wouldn't be a benefit to upgrading both the DAC and the sound card, correct?

I'd also welcome any input BDA-3 owners who had the BDA-2 can offer on any improvements in quality they enjoyed.

RonCH has a BDA-3. Message him and ask for his insights vs. previous BDA. Quite helpful.

The BDP-2 soundcard did not affect the USB out so if you only use that then no need to upgrade the BDP-2.
