Any Le Amp II feedback yet?
« on: 9 Oct 2004, 01:59 am »
I'm really curious if anyone has received their LA2's/got a chance to give them a good listening to.  There was so much buzz about these babies, and I myself endured half a year on the waiting list before giving up.  Presumably, any issues with the initial production must be ironed out by now.

How do they sound, and have the reliability issues been solved?

Hi Michel,

Is this the thread where you inquired about the IRD preamp? where you asked "how much for a calender in Thailand?"

Curt did respond to your question and others.  He stated that all new/research products will be on hold, while all existing equipment (including the Purist) will continue to be sold.

I haven't had the pleasure of listening to the Purist preamp, but I've read reviews from people whom I trust that it is a solid performer.

While I can't comment on the sound of the purist, I can comment on the customer service/support that Curt Wishman (of IRD Audio) provides his customers...of which I am one.

In a time when I've been losing more and more faith with brick and motor stores near my home, Curt Wishman (of IRD Audio) is one of the shining stars in a sea of bad service and support that makes buying any product (let alone an audio product) a true pleasure.

I suppose I really can't consider myself a "real" customer of IRD Audio tho.  Let me explain what I mean...I do own a pair of mb-100 amps, but I bought them used.  Which makes the service Curt  (of IRD Audio) provides even more remarkable.  He not only stands behind the proven customers that have bought equipment from him...but he stands behind his products.  I believe this is much more telling of not only the product in question...but the man.

But Curt is not alone in providing great products with exemplary service/support.  Some other companies that I've bought products from that provided excellent service/product/support are John Chapman of Bent Audio and Hugh Dean of Aspen Amplifiers.  These gentleman have proven that they not only provide great audio products at fair prices to the world...but also have support that I've found is far above the "normal" we find in too many businesses.

I feel I should apologies for your feeling toward IRD, because my experience has been so good.  After reading the post that I linked above, I must say that I was a little confused what exactly you were asking.  If you hadn't made your second post here (showing your displeasure) I wouldn't have had any idea what you were talking about at all.  The reason I bring this up is only to illustrate that perhaps  this the thread where you inquired about the IRD preamp? and asked "how much for a calender in Thailand?" wasn't clear enough for Curt to address your specific concerns.  He did respond, but if you wanted a more in depth answer...you should have felt confident enough to ask for clarification.

The IRD Audio) Circle is much like some of the other great circles here at AC, where the forum is filled with not only individuals who are happy to share their experience and knowledge with you...but ALSO where the actual owner/designer is always there to help as well.  Kinda nice :)

     take care,

 dan

Curt doesn't come around as often lately, but I realize it's just that he's busy.  He has popped in a couple times recently, and hopefully he'll be able to get the Sabai & the new Monoblock amps out.

I'm curious- if someone ordered the LAII's right now, would he get them?  I'm assuming they're in stock by now, but as a previous poster alluded to, MB has been really busy with the computer stuff lately.

At the moment it's not a super priority, but they're cheap enough that I always figured I'd give 'em a try once production was up to speed.  They offer a pretty good dollar-to-watt ratio, assuming the QC issues have been resolved.  And I think they're attractive, in an industrial, utilitarian sort of way.

Yeah in fact Curt and mbarnes are both busy on some of the same projects - they are doing lots of non-audio business which I'm sure no one would turn away (the Thai and world economy had really taken a dive)! Eventually they will have more employees and more time I am sure, and be able to afford to return to things audio...

I've removed posts from a certain troll, and deactivated his latest account.
