UPDATE: I have no idea why I'm selling these amps as they sound too good to sell.  I've owned and sold about a dozen amps just in the last year.  Frankly, the momentum of buying and selling (and sometimes buying again) is what led to this listing.  I am taking it off market.  If you get your hands on a newer 805AE, you'll probably understand; if you get your hands on a rarely available 805AE with upgraded caps (like mine), then you'll definitely understand. I just recently had a chance to listen to a non-upgraded pair and there's no comparison.  805AE owners -- get those caps upgraded!

Second owner. Asking $6490. Rated 8/10 only because I'm the second owner (otherwise, they're easily 9/10). Less than a year old and in mint-like condition. Latest version (as seen by the newer Cary logo.) These are SET amps, but are anything but weak or soft. This pair of 805AE amps output 50 watts, yet still retain the magic of SET; this pair of 805AE strengthens the already holographic midrange SET amps are known for with clear highs that the factory-upgraded caps (ClarityCaps MR, at a cost of $540) provide; in other words, these are not typical Cary tube amps (with the reputation - fair or not - for being soft and syrupy). I would not have bought these amps had they not had the upgraded caps.

If you ever wondered about SET and don't have sensitive speakers for 45/2A3/300B amps, then you must try a 211- or 845-based SET amp. Luckily for you, the 805AE can play both 211 and 845 output tubes. But here's the kicker - they use a pair of 300B tubes as drivers! These amps are a tube-roller's delight!  Not only can you choose among 211, 845 and 300B tubes, you can also roll 6SN7 tubes to your heart's content. Or don't roll at all and be completely satisfied with the stock tubes.

The following tubes are included:

- one pair of Shuguang 211

- one pair of Shuguang 845

- one pair of Electro-Harmonix 300B

- a quad of Electro-Harmonix 6SN7

- a quad of Shuguang Black Treasures CV181-Z Select (a great upgrade to the 6SN7s)

If interested, I can sell a pair of rare GE 211 tubes (only to the buyer).

Also included is a Cary bias meter to bias the 300B tubes. The only time I've had to check the bias is when I roll 300B tubes, which takes about 10 seconds.

Original crates and packaging are included.  I believe each crate with amp is about 100 lbs, so they can be shipped via FedEx (if they can be sent to a business address or direct to a local FedEx Print & Ship store), but if you prefer, I can ship freight to your home as well. The original owner sent them to my local FedEx store, which worked out well.

Local pickup buyers can take the amps stands with them for free (I will not ship them).  They're nothing special, but are effective and look good.

Please add shipping and PayPal (if used). I'll also accept wire.

I should mention that even with the upgraded caps, it's still $1500 less than the one recently sold here, http://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649266312-cary-805ae-monoblocks-upgraded-tubes/.

Price lowered to reflect exclusion of GE 211 tubes (but are still optional.)
