follow on question:  for playback of 16/44.1 (ie: most music on planet earth), is there any advantage to the BUC-1 vs. the USB port already in my BDA-1 ?

Yes - BUC -1 is an asynchronous USB and therefore the quality of the signal is determined by the External DAC used rather than the DAC used in the source gear.

Also the BDA-1 USB was limited to 48K 16Bit whereas the BUC-1 can do 192K/24Bit
