SP3 7.1 bypass
« on: 2 May 2016, 12:28 am »
I'm connecting an Esoteric SA-60 to the SP3 via 7.1 bypass and XLR with little success.  Is it true that the SP3 does no speaker management with 7.1 bypass?  Is it OK to use both 7.1 and XLR inputs?  I've yet to hear stereo, and the display when the Balanced 1 button is pressed shows something about HDMI, somethings with red markings, sometimes marked as no HDMI.  Why would HDMI be an issue with an analog balanced input.  Although the manual includes appendices about the arcane, there is inadequate explanation of regular use.  What a contrast with the Cary manual for the Cinema 12.

Hi

With 7.1 bypass there is no management in the SP3 as you are not going through any digital circuitry.  All the management must be done in the DVD Players menus.

Here is the latest manual - http://bryston.com/PDF/Manuals/300024[SP3].pdf
