I'm interested in owner's assessment of their Nuforce AVP18 HT pre-amps after a few years of ownership.

There as a very active thread a few years ago that dried up (along with inventory) after Optoma purchased Nuforce http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=115839.msg1366073#msg1366073

It appears that Optoma have slowly managed to get their act together and the AVP18 along with two MCA amps seem to be available again.

Since AVP18's never seem to come up used, I'm interested in how it has held up to expectations.

Secondly, has anyone had occasion to need support from Optoma and is there any indication as to ongoing support / updates to the AVP18, if its needed?

Hi, there.

I own one of these. It had been getting regular use up until 7 months ago when I boxed it and put it in storage for my trip to Taiwan. It is pretty much hassle-free. My biggest issue was having to remember how to make changes when I switched speakers. The two-channel SQ was noticeably improved over my previous Denon 2113ci AVR (piece of junk!).

Now that I think of it, it's going to stay boxed up for another year if our plans come to fruition. Hmm. Hm.

Thanks - that's good to hear.   

I did eventually stumble across an Optoma page with firmware updates as recent as 11/2015, so that's encouraging. The web site itself remains rather shambolic though.
