New to AudioCircle
« on: 10 Apr 2016, 05:53 pm »
Hi, I am new here and have recently got back into enjoying great audio again after many years away from this great hobby. I am in the process of building my two channel system as well as a 5.1 surround system for watching movies. Like many, I have a mixed bag of gear, some great some likely not the best match, but a work in progress.
I currently have Revel Salon 2 mains, Wilson Benesh center channel, Rears are Golden Ear, Amps are Emotiva XPA-1's, Processing - Emotiva XMC-1, Bryston BP-17, Oppo BDP-103 and in the process of purchasing Brytson BDP-2 & BDA-2. In the future I am looking forward to upgrading to Bryston 28BSST2 mono-blocks for the Salon 2's and trying better cables/interconnects.

I am very interested in advice on if it is best to go with the BDP-2/BDA-2 as used purchases versus used BDP-1/BDA1.

The BDP-2 and BDA-2 (there are lots of DACs in that price range) is newer and in the case of the BDP-2 has more functionality.  Also the BDA-3 has HDMI inputs (you can take from the Oppo) and while not as nice as some interfaces one can attach a hard drive to the Oppo 103 (and also use an iPad with the Oppo Media Control App to control it and select music) and hear DSD via the HDMI inputs of the BDA-3 and other hi-rez through the coax digital input.
