Hi all- been into music as long as I can remember and big into tech/home theater systems. Classical pianist for 16+ years. College student so not quite the budget as most of you but slowly been gaining better gear (and always interested in gear if anyone can offer me a deal haha)!

Way back (late 60's) my "system" consisted of my mom's old AM tube radio and a $30 portable cassette deck with microphone that I would lay on top of the radio speaker to record songs (couldn't afford to buy pre-recorded cassettes).  Now-A-Days you can get tremendous value (check out the Cheap and Cheerful circle).  For instance I have a $100 Logitech UE Smart Radio for background listening in the living room.  It's basically a wireless clock radio that fills our open design living room with pleasant sound from 12,000 streams and can access all music on file in our wireless network.

Hmmm - this looked appealing but the prices went up a bit - though the Logitech has been discontinued.

Excuse me to jump in like this,
but I've been enjoying my Grace Mondo Radio Internet for the past three years
and I really like the simplicity and good sound with it's built in speaker
and even better (Surprizingly good) sound with headphones.
Perfect for background music.
My favorite sations are the 101.fm Classic guitar,
1000HITS Classic...
