Recently aquired a set of Polk LSI 25. They sound rolled-off and required me to activate my tone controls to add treble to become enjoyable. The ring radiator tweeter does have output, just subdued.
I looked into the (top) cabinet connections to confirm all was connected properly and no visually obvious defects. The glue holding the resistors in place on both crossovers definitely shows some heat has generated there. Additionally, the zip ties around the top inductors have come loose/broken from I assume heat as well.
Driving them with Pioneer M-90 amp and my usual speakers are Kef Reference Model Three (circa '95). The amp definitely has to work harder with these Polks and gets very warm over an hour of listening at moderate volume which is does not with the Kef.
I have heard that these can be perceived as rolling off the top-end, so maybe that's it. Just thought I'd get some of the member's take on the subject.
