SP2 DAC - how good is it?
« on: 27 Feb 2016, 10:03 pm »
Hey B-kids,

Question - how good is the SP-2's DAC? Would you hang a streaming media player off it, like an Aurender N100/N100H? Or similar, like Bryston's BDP-1/2?

The SP2 dac by itself is marginally better than your typical av/receiver.
I pair it with the Bryston BDA-1, the sound is elevated to another audio league.

Good to know.

But feeding it a sweet analog signal using 2-channel by-pass and we're kicking butt?

I would disagree . I prefer the dac in the sp2 vs bd . Had both in my room for a listen . Sold the bd .

hi, derek!

i prefer the BDA-1 over the SP2's dac. but yes, the SP2 betters any regular cd player for sure if you ask me. but keep in mind that the SP2 can only go up to 96/24...

Buddy of mine told me to consider DSD - picked up an Ayre QB-9 DSD to demo and wow, if you haven't listened to DSD yet, get out and audition something that supports the format. Crazy good.
