SOLD: Logitech Squeezebox Touch
« on: 25 Apr 2016, 01:47 pm »
I've done some equipment swaps in my main system and am now using a Raspberry Pi-based streaming solution. So I'm offering my Logitech Squeezebox Touch for sale. The Touch base unit was used mostly with the web-based controller. Minimal use of the "touch" interface means that the base unit's screen is in great shape. I did install the EDO (Enhanced Digital Output) plugin firmware to allow for 1xDSD output to a compatible external USB DAC. That remains installed, but can be uninstalled by you if you don't want to use it.

Includes the Touch base unit, infrared remote control (see notes below), 120V A/C power supply, and original box.

The remote control handsets on these have a known issue where the surface of the remote gets "sticky". Not all remotes are affected -- but most do seem to be. This remote is affected. I cleaned the surface to reduce the stickyness and the remote does work fine. But please be aware of this if you plan to use the remote. But with the web-based control options, smartphone apps, and touch interface you may never need the IR remote!

$210 + shipping. Payment via Paypal or USPS Money Order - thanks!
SOLD!

Great units.  I sold off a few, but maintain one in my main system.

Love the EDO app as it allows for 24/192 files to be processed.

iPeng is a $10 app for ios (and I imagine other OS) devices that allows for an exceptional wifi tablet GUI.

Good luck with the sale!

Do these work with Spotify or TIDAL?

How does the internal DAC sound?

There are server software plugins available to enable TIDAL and Spotify support.  I did test TIDAL at one point and it worked as expected, but I haven't tested Spotify.  My music playback (when not spinning vinyl) is almost entirely from my local music library of ripped CDs, with all of the files sitting on a Linux server in the basement.  The software runs on Linux, Windows, or MAC and can be download from http://www.mysqueezebox.com/download/, and there are also updated community-supported versions available with additional features.

I've always used an external DAC with the Squeezebox Touch.  Not because there was any need for it but because I've always had one nearby.  I believe the built-in DAC is a mid-level AKM chip with support for 16/24-bit and 44.1/48/96-kHz.  It's pretty good - but will of course be outperformed by an external DAC.

Bump. I've added photos. They're not the greatest, but they're better than nothing!
