bypassing the soundcard?
« on: 26 Feb 2003, 09:30 pm »
has anyone visited ps audio's website recently? their new preamp will have an option for a usb port that comes out this summer.  would this sound better than using a soundcard? does anyone know of any other preamps that have a usb input option? thanks.

I have been using a USB audio device for almost 2 years now and I am very happy with the performance. I am addicted tot he convenience of playing mp3s in certain situations, like parties etc.

I have the Stereo Link (http://www.stereo-link.com). It outputs to 2 channel analog.

I have noticed many new USB audio products recently, many that output a digital 5/7 channel signal.

Other options are available from Sonica:

The 12DAX7:

And dozens of other MIDI i/o devices.
