I have both the Souther Clever clamp that came with my turntable and the Aluminati Sound Weight in aluminum. Both do the trick but are quite different. The Clever clamp weighs almost nothing but holds the record down well, and can be bought in many places including Music Direct.
The Aluminati Sound folks used to have a place on this site but I don't see them anymore. The nearly 1 pound aluminum weight (can be had on Audiogon) is really nicely milled and works great but it may put some stress on your bearing. I use the Aluminati most of the time because it is pretty, I like handling it, and super easy to use. I suspect, although I have no way to measure, that the extra weight helps in platter momentum and steadier speed.
