beogram TX cartridges
« on: 28 Jan 2016, 11:04 pm »
Hello all!  New to the site though I've been lurking for a while now.  Just acquired a B&O Beogram TX turntable in mint shape, minus the cartridge of course.   Anyone happen to have an MMC3 or 4 floating around they'd want to part with?

Side note, anyone aware of any successful attempts to use /modify to use non B&O cartridges?

Welcome to AudioCircle, xyzzy.

You might want to ask around in The Vinyl Circle. Lots of knowledgeable and helpful folks there.  :thumb:

Soundsmith offers replacements for B&O cartridges as well as cartridge rebuilding services. http://www.sound-smith.com/bo-cartridges

Actually, I happen to have an MMC4, an MMC3, and an MMC2 with the ruby cantilever. All in good working order.

I was thinking of having Sound Smith rebuild the MMC2 due to age and using that, or raising some additional cash buy a new production model to go with my own TX.

Maybe you can help me decide? PM me if you have questions or are interested.

Thanks for pointing out the vinyl circle - missed that somehow - looks pretty extensive!

Sound-smith looks promising once I have something they'd rebuild - looks like they only touch the high end MMC1-2 cartridges for rebuild though.   Would  be curious to hear a review on the SMMC 4's they make.
