The filter, which is to compensate for baffle step loss, is very easy to assemble. Here is what mine look like:

If you pre-drill the holes for the screws and glue your stand-offs on after you build the boards, mounting the filters will be much easier.
Since you already have a pair of cabinets that only need minimal work opening up the holes (I find a Dremel works well for this, especially with a flex shaft) you could go ahead and build out the speakers so you can listen to them while getting a new set of cabinets made.
If you do, just tack solder the hookup wire to the tube connectors (don't crimp them) then just barely insert the tube connectors into the holes. If you push the connectors in too far, you won't be able to get them back out when you get your new cabinets. Or you could not use the tube connectors at all on the temporary cabinets and just use an alligator clip to connect the speaker wires.
While I could build a pair of cabinets for you, I don't make flatpacks. With my equipment, I can't cut pieces precise and consistent enough to guarantee that they would glue up perfectly flush and square every time. So I purposely cut most pieces a little oversize then, after they are glued up, I flush trim for a perfect fit.
