2 PAIRS VINTAGE GENALEX KT66 GREY GLASS VACUUM TUBES TRIPLE TESTED

This sale is for two pairs of Genalex KT66 vacuum tubes as described below.

Pair #1   $299 (+ shipping and Paypal fee, see below)
Pair #2   $329 (+ shipping and Paypal fee, see below)

Buy both pairs for $575 and I will include USA shipping (or give a comparable credit on foreign shipping), although the Paypal fee will still be extra (see below).

TUBE DETAILS

The first two tubes in the photos (Tube #1 and Tube #2) are Pair #1.

The two tubes in Pair #1 have date codes of MJ10 (Tube #1) and LD10 (Tube #2).  Tube #1 has the Genalex blue sticker in good shape, while Tube #2 appears to only have a printed Genalex mark.

Pair #1 comes with old Genalex KT66 boxes in rough shape.  Only one of the boxes has the old cardboard insert.  I do not know if the boxes are original to the tubes.

The second two tubes in the photos (Tubes #3 and Tube #4) are Pair #2.

The two tubes in Pair #2 have date codes of PK4 (Tube #3) and LG10 (Tube #4).  Both tubes have the blue Genalex sticker, with the Tube #3 sticker being in good shape and the Tube #4 sticker starting to wear.

Pair #2 comes with one old Genalex KT66 box in rough shape.  I do not know if the box is original to the tube.

I tested these tube for Gm and current draw on my Westmore 501 (gov’t version of Triplett 3444).  On the Westmore, the Gm reject point is 2400 and average spec is 4700.

I also tested these tubes for plate current on the Westmore.  While there is no Westmore spec for plate current, the settings on the Westmore indicate that the test parameters are 250 V plate, 250 V screen and -18V grid bias.

The results are as follows (Gm/Plate current):

Tube #1   5200/46 mA
Tube #2   5300/45 mA

Tube #3   5800/54 mA
Tube #4   5600/55 mA

I also tested these tubes on a reasonably calibrated B&K 550 as KT66.  Average new is indicated to be a Gm of 6000.  The results are as follows:

Tube #1   7200
Tube #2   7200

Tube #3   8400
Tube #4   8100

Finally, I tested these on a “computerized” Western Electric KS-15874-L2 cardmatic as KT66.  The “quality” scale on the meter of the cardmatic goes to 100, and anything above a 50 is in the green (“good”). Part of the computerized function translates the meter reading into a GM value.  To my knowledge, there is no specific information as to what is avg. new or spec on this tester.  In any event, the results are as follows (meter reading/Gm):

Tube #1   74/5846
Tube #2   75/5925

Tube #3   83/6557
Tube #4   80/6320

The tubes were clean for shorts/leakage/gas.

All these tubes should be considered “USED” for the purpose of this sale.

While all three testers operate under significantly different conditions, it should be noted that all of the test results are remarkably consistent with one another on a “relative” basis.

Based on these results, and within the accuracy of my equipment (which is not bad for vintage pieces), these appear to be two reasonably strong and closely matched pairs of highly desirable vintage Genalex KT66.

I can provide additional information or pictures on request.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By purchasing these tubes, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this entire listing, including all my terms and conditions, and agree to accept and abide by those terms and conditions.

While the vast majority of people that have purchased from me in the past have understood my terms and conditions (and have been quite satisfied with their purchase), I continue to get those buyers that think my listings are “try before you buy”, or want a tube pro guarantee.

As a result, I want to make the following clear.

THESE TUBES ARE BEING SOLD “AS IS, WHERE IS.” THERE ARE NO REPRESENTATIONS, GUARANTEES OR WARRANTIES, AND THERE ARE NO REFUNDS OR RETURNS.

I ONLY describe what I know about the tubes, and what I have tested for.  While my tube testers tend to be reliable, YOUR TUBE TESTER MAY GIVE A DIFFERENT RESULT THAN MINE, so please take that into account. In the event of a tube tester conflict, MY TUBE TESTERS CONTROL.

AS SUCH, PLEASE NOTE THAT I CANNOT GUARANTEE (OR EVEN REMOTELY PREDICT) HOW THESE TUBES WILL SOUND OR PERFORM IN YOUR EQUIPMENT.  ANY TEST RESULTS ARE ONLY PROVIDED AS AN INDICATION OF TUBE PERFORMANCE IN A VERY LIMITED (AND NON-IDEAL) ENVIRONMENT.  EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY INDICATED IN THIS LISTING, I DISCLAIM ANY AND ALL REPRESENTATIONS, WARRANTIES AND LIABILITY WITH RESPECT TO THESE TUBES, OR RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR USE OF THEM.

Please take all this into account when buying.

If you have any questions, please ask in advance of purchase.  DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING ABOUT THE TUBES, and do not rely on any of YOUR assumptions.  If I happen to have the information to answer your question, I will provide it.  If I can get the information in a reasonable way, I will get it.  If I do not call a tube NOS (“new” old stock), consider that tube USED. I do the best I can with very limited time and capabilities. I am an honest seller, but I am NOT a tube professional, and I am NOT in the tube business.

Additional terms and conditions are listed below.

Cash is always welcome for a local transaction. Payment can also be via money order/cashier’s check/personal check preferred but, except for US Postal Money Orders, all must clear my bank first.

I also accept Paypal for convenience, but add 3% (USA) or 4% (outside of USA) to use Paypal.  IF YOU PAY VIA PAYPAL, HOWEVER, A CONDITION OF YOUR PAYMENT IS THAT YOU EXPRESSLY WAIVE THE RIGHT TO FILE A PAYPAL CLAIM OR CHARGE BACK (but do retain the right to sue me in court should you so desire).

I may take some trade, but really have no needs.  The trade has to be at the right value, or it will not be considered.  Of most interest would be a solid state drive (256 GB or larger), a couple of 1 TB or larger SATA or USB hard drives, or a blue-ray computer drive.  Tube possibilities include KT90, 5AR4/GZ34, 6087, 5Y3GB, 5992, 6V6G, 7408, L63 and CV1067 for myself, and others of good value for resale, but again at the right value.  In any event, feel free to inquire.

The buyer is responsible for all shipping charges (including but not limited to any customs fees, duties, import taxes and related charges).

I WILL NOT FALSIFY INFORMATION ON A CUSTOMS FORM.

In the USA, shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail unless otherwise requested.

Outside of the USA, shipping will be via USPS First Class Mail unless otherwise requested. USPS First Class Mail DOES NOT provide for insurance or full package tracking, so I have also added options for USPS Priority Mail International and USPS Express Mail International.  If both pairs are purchased, then only USPS Priority Mail International and USPS Express Mail International will be available.

IN ANY EVENT, I EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ANY AND ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR DELIVERY (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGE OR LOSS) BY ANY POSTAL SYSTEM, AND BY  YOU EXPRESSLY WAIVE THE RIGHT TO FILE A PAYPAL CLAIM FOR ANY SHIPPING RELATED ISSUE. If, however, you have purchased insurance for the item, I will assist to the best of my ability in the processing of any legitimate insurance claim you desire to file.

Please check my feedback on Audiogon and Ebay (ID=baileyler), and buy with confidence.

A bump before listing it at one of the paid sites.
