Is this one the two-box preamp?  I've heard this one and I didn't like it.

i've read that pass gear is generally on the warm side. not very solid state sounding at all. having heard the x-250 amp, i'd have to agree. imo it works great w/ speakers that are more neutral to lean sounding. not so great speakers that have tendencies towards the warmer end of the spectrum.

The X-2.5 is a one box unit Steve. The two piece unit is a model up in price.

Got a quick question if I may. By warm sounding do you mean "dark", kinda overy full with a very black backround? Kinda hard to describe.
