Deluxe Vinyl Replicas by Culture Factory

Has anyone heard the Deluxe Vinyl Replica cds and could you comment on the sound quality? I'd like to acquire some nice sounding cds for the car.

"Our remastering process brings out the music's true dynamics and original clarity with low levels of noise. In the remastering studio the audio tracks are handled in the form of high-definition, 96Kz / 24-bit digital files for greatest preservation of fidelity. Signal compression is sometimes used to bring out frequencies that were absent or barely heard in the original recordings, and we use the least amount of compression possible"

Cheers and thanks,
KP

First Pull Up, Then Pull Down, the second Hot Tuna album, continued the band's focus on classic blues songs but with a more electrified sound complemented with jazzy licks from violinist, Papa John Creach who also played with the Jefferson Airplane.

Deluxe Vinyl Replicas by Culture Factory constitute high quality reissued compact-discs which reproduce all the components of the original LPs and are their exact replicas in compact-disc size (5.3 x 5.3 inches), with authentic single or gatefold cardboard jackets and paper sleeves. In addition to the above, each compact-disc Deluxe Vinyl Replica includes a black finish CD complete with the original label to give it the look and feel of the original record album. Culture Factory strives to achieve an authentic sound with the highest possible fidelity to the original studio masters. While sound perception varies greatly among individuals our vinyl replica CDs are designed to provide the optimal listening experience when using flat EQ settings. Truly amazing! The attention to detail, the remastering, the overall packaging-- I've never seen anything this complete or as well done EVER. Greatest CDs ever. 10+, five stars, all walk-off grand slams! --Gary Moore, 95.5KLOS-FM

Hi Arthur,
Hmmm, this topic was moved from the hirez circle. Maybe I've misunderstood the definition but doesn't the Deluxe Vinyl Replica process meet the definition of hirez?

Guess I better ask Ted.

I don't think so.  Even if the remastering process used 32-bit/384KHz files, in the end the master is downsampled to 16-bit/44.1KHz Redbook CD format.  This careful remastering process with minimal compression may produce a product of the highest quality in the CD format, but it's still not a high resolution format.

Regardless of where it landed, you got the word out on some good music. That's the main thing.  8)

Well, I ordered this hoping for great things but was disappointed. Thinking that perhaps it was my hearing
and not the product, I mailed it to one of ACs resident vinyl experts, a certain Rex Gourd, who has both redbook and vinyl copies available for comparison purposes. His verdict: the DVR is better than his 1998 redbook but not as good as vinyl.

Has anyone else Heard the DVR cds? I'd really like to buy a few good cds of early Jefferson Airplane but based on the Hot Tuna DVR, I don't think the DVRs will be to my liking.
