Psst! Hey Meester! Wanna buy a Baby?

Howdy folks,

Before putting this up on the Trading Post, I thought I would offer it to y'all first, if you have an interest on a great little tube amp.

Ayup, the Baby is gonna be the first to go.
I like it a lot, being truly closer to my Bryston gear in ways than I thought it would be. (ie. music coming from much quiet background) Unfortunately, like so many others complain
"I have too many amps!"
Works good, but this Baby has been around, but still singing sweetly.

Audition in your home or my home if you want.  I can deliver.
Just want to pass it on to fund more fun.

Half retail-
..just $400 will have this cutey in your hands.
My wife would REALLY like this choice little amp in the bedroom, and is the first amp of MANY coming thru here that she ever showed an interest in.
Having thoughts?  Go to
www.Sophiaelectric.com
and read about it and the great reviews they have links to.

Any questions, fire away.
I'll give it a couple of days and give someone else a chance.

DF,
I believe you have the wrong link. Try this...

Click on S.E.T. amps for the Baby info.[/list:u]
      That's an excellent price !! :) [/list:u]

Thanks Dude!

You were absolutely correct!  Sorry 'bout that.

I just got a bug up my butt to move it along.
Its an excellent little amp, but in pursuing all that my Altecs can do, I have to do some samplin', and the Baby was first up.
It got great reviews, and local Blackmore has one and likes it, so I felt pretty safe getting it.
It does a great job handling the Altecs.  Amazing amount of sound for 10w or so.
It is missing the top insignia plate from Sophia, but for the comparitive price, it just didn't affect the sound at all!  :)
Of course, now that I have posted it, the wife gave me a 'squinky' look saying 'You *did* have to sell *that* one first!"
Can't do right for doing wrong, sometimes.

Regards,
DF

Dude, take the hint. She likes it for the bedroom system. So get yourself some little bookshelf Oddysseys or the like and hook that puppy up in the bedroom. The glowing tubes will look good in all the mirrors.  :o

If he has mirrors in the bedroom it's not tubes that he should be looking at in them.

Glad it got there okay, Chris!
Hope you enjoy it, and glad it was the catalyst to make your acquaintance.

Hey Bill,
This tiny little tube amp rocks !! Been running it for about an hour now. Just the amp , cdp ,and speakers. Got the SLM out...92db...not bad. Fills my 12x12 room just fine. Over time , I'll try different combo's and see what happens....but so far...excellent. Thanks again !! :thumb: [/list:u]

Not only does the tiny little amp rock, it makes wonderful music.  I also have one of the little Sophias.  What is most striking is how dead silent it can be.  Even with the volume turned way up and nothing coming from the source, almost pure silence at the speakers.  Also no hum that so many tube amps are known for.  Really an incredible amp.  If only it had a remote.  I have placed an active preamp with remote in front of it.  Gives it the ability to play even louder, but it does seem to take a little away from the overall sound quality.

Very true...just did the same. Added Philly 7A tube preamp....EA Turbomodded ECD-1 and 7700 player....out to SP Tech Timepiece 2.0's. Not really enough power for the TP 2's....but still sounding pretty good. I have a few other speakers on hand to try.

You are very welcome Chris!
Am so glad it works in your room.
I was real pleased with it, but it being 1st in line with 3 more amps to follow, it had to move along.
(Okay, I got manic finding tube amps for my Altecs).
Coming from my biamped Brystons on a dedicated circuit, the lack of noise (like them) was virtually a move sideways, without the power excess.

That's the thing, I get caught up in 'too much is never enough!' mentality, and then something quite discrete and lovely comes along and I don't always know what to do with it.

If it had been 4th around here instead of first, it might still be here.
Like an unwed mother of bygone eras, if I couldn't keep the Baby happy and playing around here, I'm glad your taking to it to better appreciated climes..

....So you have your Timepiece 2.0s in that 12x12 room huh?
That still gives me hope for my 13x13 room.

Happy Listenin'!
