SP3 Unresponsive <FIXED>
« on: 27 Oct 2015, 07:03 pm »
Help! :duh:

While perusing my SP3 menu items and looking at my HDMI firmware, I accidentally executed the "PROGRAM KEYPAD" command by hitting "right arrow" instead of cancelling out with a "left-arrow"

The SP3 started programming the keypad, but stopped at 5% and froze.   I left it for about 30 minutes, hoping against fate but it didn't progress.    At that point, the front panel buttons were non-responsive, and the SP3 wasn't responding to remote control commands.

I unplugged the SP3, and now it will not boot.  When I plug it in, the front LED turns yellow.  There is nothing on the LCD display.  After about 5 minutes, the front LED turns red.

I have my SP3 connected both via RS232 and via ethernet, but I cannot access the web interface using the IP address I had it configured for.  I also tried direct connecting with a laptop using default IP addresses of 169.254.0.1 and 10.0.0.1.  No response.

I can see the green LINK light is on, and the yellow ACTIVITY light is flashing rapidly when I initially re-plug the SP3 in.  But I just can't figure out if it has defaulted itself to a new IP?

James? Stan?  Help?  Have I bricked it?

Just to close the loop - Stan and Mike are amazing.   With some good instructions (and patience on Stan's part) I was able to follow his instructions to re-program the keypad myself and avoid having to send the unit back to Bryston.

James, your team is amazing and everytime I interact with them I'm reminded of why I chose Bryston.

Thanks so much,
Scott

That's a fact. Those two have been top notch helping me with Serial control. As I am WAY :o more involved than most users with this feature. They never hung the phone up on me once....but I'm sure they wanted too.

Kidding of course...

You get what you pay for. The SP3 is the most purest, neutral sounding, SSP in this price point. You don't need a separate pre-amp for 2-channel.

Now, I'm looking at their speakers.
