An Aural Journey

The first stop on this aural journey is my favorite radio show - Radio Lab.
Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich use sound to explore science, philosophy, and the human experience.

This weeks show (7/26/15) featured highlights from a recent live performance "Tell-Tale Hearts"
http://www.radiolab.org/story/radiolab-live-telltale-hearts-featuring-oliver-sacks/
An excellent show (most are) and well worth a listen.

And... if you you actually sit and listen to that live show (without multitasking) you will notice a sonic landscape in the background, which brings us to:

The second stop of this journey, the person behind these landscapes:

Sara Lipstate http://www.sarahlipstate.com/
Also known as Noveller, Sara plays electric guitar like no one else does today. She uses loops to circle sounds producing quiet and soaring landscapes.
Go to her website and listen to her latest album Fantastic Planet for free. You can also watch live performances of her playing solo.

"Handling the guitar as her muse, Lipstate summons a sonic palette so rich as to challenge the listener to conceive of how it’s housed in a single instrument manipulated by a solitary performer."

The third stop of our journey takes us back to Radio Lab.
Last year they did a live show called Apocalyptical http://www.radiolab.org/live/

The show is about a new theory why dinosaurs went extinct and features a live band with Sara Lipstake and "live" dinosaurs.
Fascinating stuff.

Hope you enjoy your journey.
