I am going through a severe and somewhat painful downsizing of my audio system, and selling my Class D Audio SDS-450 mono amplifiers at an asking price of $550 for the pair... that's just $275 each!
NOTE: I also have for sale (under a separate listing) a pair of Magnepan 10.1QR speakers modified with Alphacore foil inductors and Obbligato film oil caps. Amps and speakers package deal – $750.
For now, this is a LOCAL SALE ONLY (DETROIT) as I do not have a way of effectively packaging the amps or speakers for shipment.
SDS-450 AMP DETAILS:
These high-power, great-sounding amplifiers were assembled from kits available at
www.classdaudio.com. They were built as balanced input (XLR) bridged mono amps, but can be changed to suit a wide range of needs (see note at bottom). There is a long thread regarding these amps at

The SDS series offer enhanced performance over the CDA series including higher input impedance (47k ohms), balanced inputs and individually adjustable gain for each channel. You will not find info specific to the SDS-450 at the website as these were special ordered. Power specs per channel are as follows:
• Stereo 8 ohms = 150 watts
• Stereo 4 ohms = 300 watts
• Stereo 2 ohms = 600 watts
• Bridged mono = 600 watts (they are protection circuit limited to this amount of power with either 8 ohm or 4 ohm loads)
I am the original owner and builder, and the amps have performed flawlessly since they went into service – which has been very light and they’ve been in storage for at least the past year. They were built as a mirrored pair to make placement behind speakers easier.
• Input wiring is Kimber PBJ from Neutrik XLR jacks
• Output wiring is DH Labs Silver Sonic to Neutrik SpeakOn 4-pole jacks
• AC input is Neutrik PowerCon and each amp includes a custom 4.5-foot DH Labs Power Plus AC cord with a Wattgate plug
• NOTE: If the amps are purchased as a pair, I will also provide 8-foot DH Labs Q-10 Silver Sonic speaker cables with SpeakOn connectors at one end, bare wire at the other
The chassis is aluminum and shows some smudges/discoloration in places, but is perfectly presentable. The top, front and sides can be easily removed for finishing if desired. Spikes have been mounted on the bottom and include discs to protect your shelves. All of the original ancillary wiring for LEDs, jumpers and gain pots for the unused channels that were provided with the kits will also be provided.
My asking price is $550 for the pair. I’ve invested much more than this in the parts alone.
I really don’t want to split the kids up, but will consider doing so at $400 each. These amps are very versatile and can be reconfigured for many different needs – you simply need to add the necessary input/output jacks or adapters and set the on-board jumpers and gain pots appropriately. I can provide technical assistance as necessary to help you create a different configuration:
• Balanced input (XLR) mono amps (current config)
• Single-ended input (RCA) mono amps
• Balanced input (XLR) stereo amps
• Single-ended input (RCA) stereo amps
• Mono input (XLR or RCA) dual-channel amps to facilitate bi-amping (the onboard gain pots allow for independent adjust the high/low frequency levels)
