It may depend on the model (e.g. 6B, 3B).  There are some threads out there such as

There's also likely some evolutionary changes in some of the ST series over time - e.g. - http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=73275.msg1111777#msg1111777

As I noted in my PM not only is the 3B ST a great amp but it is of shallow depth and I need that for the one system (amp is behind the TV)

Thanks !  There have actually been changes to the previous system pic as I sold the Squeezebox Touch and have a HAL (Hollis Audio Labs) MS-3 music server and two hard drives which also sit behind the TV.  I like having multiple systems that do things differently (also not the pain of selling all the time but upgrading something and then rotating something to another system and if something is left over that is worth selling then sell or or give it to someone).
