Explain to me the technology behind the ice powered amps and why I would want to purchase one over an Audiosearch100.2 or a 150.2 power amp?

I had both amps before. The 100.2 is tube like amp with sweet mid range but lack of dynamic high and low. It also takes a long time to warm up. The 150.2 has more power but a simple UDC amp (pre-ncore module) can beat it hand down. ncore amps is a step up from UDC. D-sonic (Pascal module) has the closest mid of 100.2 and the dynamic of the ncore. So it is the best. You will hear a clear margin. Been there! Done that :)

Hypex UcD.  Acronym for “Universal class D" amplifier.

A lot of it also has to do with implementation.  Some people who compared UcD modules combined with a robust linear power supply and a tube input buffer (such as the Rogue Audio Medusa/Hydra amplifiers) to the ncore, preferred them over the ncore.

I've only personally had the chance to audition the ncore NC400 once, and with the particular speakers used they did not sound as smooth and full as the Van Alstine Fet Valve 400R with the same speakers.

Speaker matching (dare I use the word "synergy") seems to be of even greater importance with the Class D amplifiers.  I haven't heard any amplifiers with the Pascal or Anaview modules, (although I have heard several ICEpower amps), but reading a lot of comparisons have made me think that it's possible in the Class D arena that the current ICEpower amps may have slipped to the bottom of the pack, but who knows what the next gen B&O might bring?

However in any case I would really want to hear any Class D amplifier with my speakers first, while I feel it might be easier to buy a Bryston, AVA, etc. linear amplifier sight unseen (sound unheard).

Thanks for all the advice, Its helped me a lot.
Class D is new to me. In the last 30+ years all I've owned are SS amps that weight about 50-75 lbs at 50-200 watts per channel.
Hard to believe a 10-25 LBS Class D amp would beat out a big heavy amp but times are changing. Gotta read up more on this.
Both of my current power amps now need replacing.

I just looked this up, looks interesting.
