I just wanted to share since I was really touched with it yesterday. Pictured here is a standard (no tweaks at all, no wool, no glue at PR etc.) RM40 FST with all top of the line Gryphon electronics and accessories. That is one of those rare systems where practically everything sounds almost live, and bad recordings are bad but still enjoyable (if they contain good music). Pure success. It is literally amazing what Mr. Cheney achieved with "plain" standard FST RM 40 (in my mind comparing with even more than 10 times more expensive speakers). There seem to be no upper limit for partnering equipment with VMPS. It may also be interesting to mention that owner of Gryphon, Mr. Rasmussen, commented how he was "lost in music" in front of this very system. I'd say it's a nice comment from a person whose company offers $125.000 speakers.

For me, and at this point, this would be an absolutely "upgradeditis free" system, room included of course. And I heard RM/X and I know it is significantly better than RM40.

Yeah, I hear you man, I have absolutely no compunction to upgrade my 40's.  The truth is I haven't heard a better speaker (for my tastes).

Pictures just don't do those speakers justice. They're so much bigger in person.

Great pics,

I can only imagine the sound, especially with the sloping ceiling.

I have heard the Gryphon gear (CDP) recently and it was exceptional.

I was listening to my RM40s last night, and they are superb speakers.  I'm amazed at how much better they are than my Linns, which I really liked.  And this is with no tuning other than a minor amount of putty removal.  (I'm still trying to dial in position and also wanted to let them play for a while before trying anything.)
