Local audio news
« on: 6 Mar 2015, 11:36 pm »
I hope this post is alright with everyone, I wanted to share a few new brands I've found in the area thinking others may be interested and feel free to add if you know of any others.

* At Home Theatre Design in Lake St. Louis now has KEF & Cary.  He also has a Bricasti DAC on display for a short period until delivering to a customer.  To get started Dave has a Cary DAC with variable output playing into a Cary power amp.  I haven't had the chance to hear them yet as they just hit town.  I believe first set of KEF is in the "R" series, a stand mount 3-way.

* Maybe not very recent but Music For Pleasure has Devialet on display.  I found the small footprint integrated packed with technology to be a really cool piece.  I'm not all up on the amp's technology but it's a combination of Class D with Class A.

* Not a retailer but a local guy in St. Peters is officially a display or demo person in the area for Lampizator.  I actually got to meet Lukas Fikas, a nice guy, seemingly just an audiophile who liked talking tech, gear & music in general.  I hope I spelled his name correctly.  One thing worth mentioning is he now has an entry level DAC somewhere in the $2k range.  I heard a first gen version, it is good for the money and has the same character as his higher end DAC's, obviously just not to their level.  Interesting how this small company out of Poland, hand building these DAC's have just taken the world by storm.  Well, maybe not the entire world as he told me he won't sell in certain countries and I imagine there's others where the product may be still unknown :)

There is a custom integrator in the GAS group.  He also offers KEF and several other nifty items.  If I could only remember his name...
