Started Treating My Room
« on: 7 Feb 2015, 11:38 pm »
Well my wife was away for the weekend.  I figured I could work on our spare room.  It's about 9x13.  Before the speakers were on the long wall.  Moved them to the short wall.  Had some Corning 703.  So I made four 1x3 1/2 panels.  Not yet covered.  I stacked them and put them in the front corners.  I have a acoustic foam chunk on each side wall.  It's sounds very, good.  Seems to have cleaned up the sound.  Is the gap at the ceiling an issue?  Wondering if I'm heading in the right direction?  Would I bee better placing the panels in a different position?  Here's a couple of photos

Why is it some times photos get flipped around?  Both were the same orientation.

Those panels look like a good start, have you covered them yet?
A small room will be quite "live", I would add some absorption to the wall behind the listening position.
And that one on the side wall to me looks too small.

Yup covered them with a course linen material.  Played around with placement and speakers.

How has the sound in the room changed so far ? Do you have a treatment on the right side of the room also ? In a room that small i have found you cannot do to much absorption for my liking .It all is u to your ears . Try moving them around .Make more . They are cheap if you can find a supplier locally . In my location a 9 sheet package of 4x8  2" pack is around $80 . If you end up not liking the sound after or think you made too many , they have been a quick sale for me on Craig's List . For actual material costs . Have fun .Best upgrade going !

SIZE DOES MATTER!! :o   I am sure they are helping some what, but the panels should span 2' across the corner and should be no less then 4" thick.
