I thought it was an artist's palette for a guy with a VERY big thumb! But certainly a stylish toilet seat is not out of the question! I am baffled by this weird design - it will be interesting to see what the heck it is!

Here's the finished baffle. Jack, that's a Lambda dipole woofer. A DPL12 would probably fit right in, but I need the Lambdas here to go high enough for the "ribbon-on-a-stick":

That's cool - substitute bamboo for the wooden dowels and you'd have a nifty oriental kinda theme!

John, have you made any observations about the effects of the room treatments? With your less than ideal listening area, I am betting the the foam has made a big difference in imaging and soundstage.

That's right! Now I just have to figure out how to get the whole lot into my car...

Hm, imaging and soundstage, my least favorite audiophile... thingies... Mostly what I notice is that there's a consistent difference regardless of what amps or speaker I am using, which I attribute to removing the room signature. Or replacing it with a different one. Imaging has increased, although sometimes it's a bit artificially so now, which can be distracting in its own right. I guess we can put that on the recording tho.

Bear in mind these are dipole speakers, which radiate out the back as much as they do out the front. That's actually the main reason I bought so much of the foam.

But even if they made no difference, this stuff is worth the cost for the extra cred it brings to my listening room

What you can do now is just add about 4 more of those Neo 8's per side and flank them with about nine 6" woofers...

One more comment on the treatment. With the dipole speakers, there is a bit too much midbass. I was baffled (heh) for a while, then I realized that what's probably happening is that the foam is doing its job and allowing the dipoles to work as dipoles. So there's a peak in the midbass before the bass starts rolling off, as explained by the inestimable Linkwitz:

I did a quick in-room rta using the ultracurve before I ship it off. The woofers are flat to above 4 kHz, pretty amazing!

I have a peak at 160 on one side and 80-100 on the other. Hm...
