I'm looking at a pair of used 1801-TLs for sale here on AC. I currently have a pair of SongTowers with dome tweeters. How would the 1801-TLs compare to the SongTowers? My room is fairly small at about 14' deep and 20' wide that is open on one end. I use a pair of Wyred 4 Sound SX-500 mono-blocks to power the SongTowers. I do listen to music at loud levels on occasion and do not use my subs for two channel music. Any thoughts on these two speakers would be appreciated .

I believe that the 1801 is an overall a better speaker over the ST. You will be giving up the sensitivity but I doubt that would be a problem.

Dennis Murphy uses transmission lines in a number of excellent speakers he sells. I'm not going to comment  directly on the SongTowers but a Dennis Murphy TL at that price is a steal. Toss in the fit 'n'finish of Salk speakers - I think it's a no-brainer purchase.

Thanks ricardojoa and Stercom for your thoughts . I couldn't resist and bought the 1801-TLs from fellow AC member Neal. I'm looking forward to getting them and too see how they compare to the SongTowers. It was a real pleasure dealing with Neal .

I wanted to do a quick update on the 1801-TL purchase. I'm very glad I bought the 1801-TLs as they are mint and sound excellent. The most obvious improvement in my room is the added bass response. The midrange seems a bit more detailed over the STs but the difference is subtle. I ordered a single 1801-b from Jim yesterday as I feel that will be a better match than using the Song Center.
