Michael Fremer reviews a vdH cartridge from Klaus

The March 2005 issue of Stereophile arrived today.  And in it (page 37ff) Fremer discusses Klaus having become the US importer-distributor for Dutch MC cartridge maker van den Hul.  Reviewed is a Grasshopper Condor Gold XGP-MO which runs $3000.

The review was extremely positive with Fremer saying he "loved" it.   This is great stuff for Klaus and the well-heeled who can afford expensive MC cartridges.

Me?  I'm still milking a George Merrill modified AR ES-1 turntable with a Sumiko Premier MMT tonearm.  Cartridges are Denon DL-103D and DL-304 mounted in Orsonic AV-1S headshells feeding my Odyssey Tempest via a van den Hul D501 tonearm cable.

The Denon MCs are classics and constitute the brand of carts I've used for years having had a number of other models in the past.  No question I would LOVE to audition the Grasshopper Condor Gold but owning one is simply beyond my reach.

I always wondered what "MMT" stood for, but now I know: "Milk My Tonearm"!

Read this today from http://www.stereophile.com/news/022805analog/

Dutch cable and cartridge manufacturer Van den Hul BV has announced the formation of Vandenhul-USA, a new company that will handle distribution of its products in the United States. Previously, the company's cable line had been distributed by May Audio, while Stanalog Audio handled the cartridges. Contrary to what was reported in my March 2005 "Analog Corner," Klaus Bunge's Odyssey Audio (www.odysseyaudio.com) will not be distributing the cartridges. Bunge's involvement was temporary, while van den Hul set up the new company.

Vandenhul-USA, 4535 Lennox Avenue, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423-2612. Tel: (800) 600-0873.

Wonder what was going on...

Well,  it is correct that NOW  I'm not the distributor anymore.  Not my choice though,  but at this point I guess that I'm listed and acting as a dealer.   The advertising and product mailing trials that I talked with some of you guys thus have to be cancelled by me,  since this is really the job of the distributor now,  right ?
However,  anybody still interested in a good deal,  call me,

Klaus
